Frequently Asked Questions

What Does Deionization Do?

Deionization (DI) is the process of cleaning or polishing water. It usually goes hand in hand with reverse osmosis (RO) in a water-fed system. In the case of the Tucker cart, the tap undergoes a three-stage process. First, it goes through reverse osmosis, then to an RO membrane, and lastly through deionization housing for water polishing.

To keep your pure water system effective, you need to replace your resin cartridge from time to time. Virgin resin, which is the component used to remove total dissolved solids (TDS) from the tap, can wear out over time. You may check the effectiveness of your resin by using a TDS meter on your purified H2O.

How Often Should You Change Your Deionization Resin?

The DI resin can exhaust its capacity to remove contaminants over time. This is why it’s important to replace them regularly. However, the lifespan of a deionization filter varies depending on the quality of the water involved. If the supply has a great amount of TDS in it, it’s more likely to wear out your resin. It’s best to check the TDS level of your H2O. A high level should tell you that your deionization resin needs replacement.
