About the SMC NFPA Steel Locking Carabiner - Large

One of the best-selling SMC steel carabiners around is the NFPA Steel Locking Carabiner. This large carabiner was developed for the needs of high-rise window cleaning, fire rescue, and other rope access professions. Featuring a 1.20" gate opening and smooth action, attaching this carabiner to your harness is fast and simple.

The carefully hand-finished components used in this carabiner result in the swift gate action that SMC carabiners pride themselves on. Rather than the body of the carabiner, the sleeve locks onto the gate. This eliminates common problems, such as the knob binding on the frame after the carabiner has been loaded.

This carabiner is UL certified to meet NFPA1983 “G” for General Use and is made in the USA. It is constructed with steel alloy and features flush-mounted pins with the gate for a virtually snag-free operation.

In the 3 Stigma test, the results were major axis 46kN, minor axis 16kN, and gate open 11kN.
